Great analysis of Ireland and the West generally. It is blatant in Ireland primarily because of its small size, a population of approximately 5 million. They are on a faster timeline because of this.

We must lend moral support to them as Ireland is all of us. A defeat for the regime there would send shockwaves through the West in my view. Alas many are brainwashed into believing they need migrants to support their economy even while hundreds of thousands are out of work. Propaganda works.

As you say, it is the normals who are asleep. They assume elections work or immigration is some kind of positive despite the violence it will inevitably bring.

That said, of everything they do it is mass immigration that is most visible. In Dublin it cannot be hidden.

I'm told that something like 3% of the population of the Republic arrived in the last *year*. One year! That's equivalent to 2,000,000 foreigners into the UK. Then again we're not far behind at 740,000 which makes 1%. God I hate our politicians.

Expand full comment

Precisely that. And they can't build that many houses. The political class have lost their minds.

Expand full comment

Or train enough teachers or nurses for that kind of influx.

But instead of discussing that, my daughter’s philosophy teacher wanted to spend class today smearing Geert Wilders as an anti-freedom whacko.

I hope all the schools burn to the ground. They are not fit for purpose. No need for teachers!

Expand full comment

Geert Wilders makes a lot of sense. He is blunt, which is needed. Some cultural groups do not belong.

Jews, for example, don't belong in Saudi Arabia. We all know why. Nor do the Chinese. Their cultures are incompatible with the Saudi way of life.

Northern European nations are the same.

We have become infested with a mind cult most of the world views as dangerous.

Expand full comment

Building houses and training teachers accepts the argument that we should accommodate these people *at all*. We were never asked.

Expand full comment

The point was that even if this was wise, then it is not practical. The political class don't seem to care about the fact we can't even house or feed them.

I am in agreement. I am for zero migration to Ireland or the UK. We have many unemployed. I also do not buy their rationales. That we need migrants. We don't.

Expand full comment

And yes, very much agree that some plants don't grow well in the same garden. Nature is a bitch.

Wilders is also harsh, but what is harsher is pretending that we would all be fine living under sharia law, which is why I found the stance of the philosophy teacher so short sighted.

We are lucky Wilders has stuck to his guns all these years. Most people I know who voted for him were using their vote strategically and bless them and him that it works out as they hoped....

Expand full comment

It is at that stage. People will vote for nationalist parties for a while if they are the only people who pay attention to the issue of mass immigration. It makes sense.

We need mature discussions about who is compatible. For example, no muslim country allows white European mass immigration. They understand we are not compatible with them. I am perfectly fine with that.

To Brits like me observing from across the Irish Sea, the scale and speed of Ireland's change is hard to fathom. I have lived through a sixty-year cultural dismemberment in my country: an exponentially advancing middle class worship fad-by-fad of a (conveniently cost-free) 'Social Justice' pseudo religion. To the casual observer it looks like the Irish have managed this cultural disintegration in a fraction of the time. Can that really be so?

Expand full comment

I think the recent acceleration of immigration has been faster because of the small size. That is all. In most other respects they are similar to the UK, even down to the Indian PM.

Expand full comment

It was the apparent speed-of-light lurch from ultra-RC conservative to ultra-Woke I was referring to.

Expand full comment

Ah, I see. Again possibly size. But I have seen some recent footage from their political class in parliament and I would say there is an edge to them we lack. My suspicion is they identify with the victim in the victim-oppressor narrative.

Sinn Fein seem to want citizenship for all asylum seekers, for example.

But their Left seem to have consumed everything, and in their madness destroyed all that is Irish about them, including the catholicism.

It is hard to fathom why this suicidal urge is happening.

Interesting thread to me, this one. I am an Irish immigrant living in the UK, although that has been for most of my life. I do visit home every year though, and the speed of the change even in the rural west of the country has really been astonishing since probably the late 1990s, but accelerating through the 2000s. As mentioned, there is a definite element of wanting to somehow "catch up" with the rest of western Europe (the EU) after a hundred years of effective rule by the RC Church, and of course greatly exacerbated by numerous scandals around the abuse of that power. So maybe there is an element of unacknowledged but unwarranted self-shaming about the embrace of the new religion (ironically enough) of Woke doctrine. Referendums on gay marriage and then abortion passing, and after that the rest seemed inevitable. But on a hopeful note, the recent absolute kicking the Regime took in the recent referendum attempting to remove women and families from the constitution (only one ward returned a Yes vote - in south Dublin where the right-thinking liberals all live, presumably), gives some cause for optimism that something has changed in the psyche of the majority.

Excellent article, this is why we must restore to ourselves the ways of old, we must return philosophically and culturally to chivalry, to older ideas and restore tradition, faith and goodness to our civilisations.

We must stop saying 'Western Civilisation' but rather 'Western Civilisations' or 'English Civilisation' or 'Civilisation Francais', or 'Deutsche Civilisation' and so on. And each of them, must have the customs of old and the philosophies of old, as we return to God, his son and the ideals of honour, virtue and of love for one another.

I'm sure the jackboots are closely watching the Ireland scenario because its a smaller population representative of what they hate the most; a demographic closely resembling that of many American states. Irelands' confined borders will act as a tension accelerant, so it'll be litmus test for experimental policies. This alone suggests that they're scared and unsure of what comes next, having little or no understanding of what truly motivates people to freedom here in the US or abroad.

And vexed they are with the entrenched Second Amendment - no force short of utterly destroying everything will ever disarm the populace. Go ahead, change the laws, it'll just cause us to dig in deeper.

I may be older now, incapable of fighting. But what I am capable of, is teaching. And boy, this old engineer, pyro, ex-cop, ex-fireman, ex-military, and cheeseburger-loving pastor has all kinds of tricks to teach.

I think with Ireland we see a microcosm of the West. They have been exposed as an inflexible group of clowns who resort to tyranny when under pressure. Everything they do is PR, not governance. When real problems arise they panic.

The cure is exposure, which is happening in Ireland. That helps people wake up.

Great sentiments.

Do you think that the Feds will act any differently than they did for Lincoln?

"...on August 4, 1863, Sherman wrote to Grant at Vicksburg, “The amount of burning, stealing and plundering done by our army makes me ashamed of it. I would rather quit the service if I could, because I fear that we are drifting to the worst sort of vandalism …You and I and every commander must go through the war, justly charged with crimes at which we blush.”

"However, in a later response to a Southerner who called him a barbarian, Sherman said that he, as a commander: “may take your house, your fields, your everything, and turn you out helpless to starve. It may be wrong, but that don’t alter the case.”

Author Otto Eisenschiml, writing less than 20 years after the Nuremberg war crimes trials, asserted that Sherman should have been hanged just as the Nazi war criminals had been hanged! Instead, he was lauded, honored and promoted by a grateful government."

They'll murder, rape, loot, pillage, and burn just as Lincoln's minions did to the South. They'll lay waste just as their buddies are doing in Gaza. In fact, Gaza is pretty much a shot across the bow of Americans who might have ideas.

Well, Eugine, honorable disagreement here. I did not grow up wealthy, likely middle class for the combined work efforts of both parents, a railroad worker and a Registered Nurse. I have never, myself, reached anywhere close to middle class status, a total microentreprenuer in my Elder age. The plumbers I have met and also in my career in property management, were hard-working and diligent micro-entrepreneurs. They kept the buildings I managed, running and in good order. Maintenance is crucial to an operating apartment building or commercial space. I am not a fan of Karl Marx, as he seemed to advocate commandeering the wealth of others for the "proletariat." Hey, I am one of the "proletariats" but I am not one to steal from others. I am not down on the wealthy, many of whom are willing to work harder than I ever could. The basics of life are mine and I am grateful for food, clothing and shelter. Class war is useless. Hail to all the plumbers, electricians, carpenters (remember the Lord Jesus Christ?) and general contractors out there who keep the infrastructure of the physical world going. Machiavelli identitied the fundamental problem of all forms of government in his books as the “two humors”. The great are driven to dominate and to oppress while the people of the lower classes are driven to be not oppressed. Since the great are spirited and driven and have greater resources to pursue their narrow interests, they are not awed by either God or customs. Instead, they will pursue their private good by murder even. They will keep pushing until they eat the seed corns of their fathers to the last drop.

The people, on the other hand, “just want to grill”. This is actually a virtue and not a vice. They tends to be more reactive and more faithful to both form and idea of their heritage. For this reason, Machiavelli termed the “guard of liberty”.

But since the people lack either drive or resources or even the brains (requiring a new vanguard or counter elite to lead them) Machiavelli realized that they needed new legal recourses to restraint the elite abuses. He advised first that the people be armed and organized into legions to give them both confidence and discipline, next, he advised for new tribumate chosen by the lots with the power to veto the elite’s plans and to free the unjustly imprisoned, and to charge the great of treason or corruption. He also advised jury of large size to give a truest representative voice over the accused. I would also add power of recall and letter of instructions on certain issues as well. Also, a private citizen should be able to bring charges to the court.

If these were in place since 1787, think how many changes would not happened today. Biden could be standing trial. The 1965 immigration law would be overturned by the 1,0001 jury before it gave teeth. The bankers would be charged by private citizens in 2008 for fraud.

I know a lot of people like to talk about Plato and the Fathers but most are aristocrats. Plato doesn’t have any governmental expertise, whereas low-born Machiavelli did. I would pay more attention to him. I think he have the right sociology of the elite and the people right.

Two things to consider..."The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of men who wanted to be left alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over.

The moment the men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the men who just wanted to be left alone." ~Soviet Dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I think this is especially true for Northern European cultures, in both Europe and North America. We have an unusually high threshold for reacting. We put up with a lot because we are level headed. This can be misconstrued by our cultural enemies as weakness.

The Irish are no exceptions. It takes a lot for us to riot. But stabbing school children will do it. Even then a sensible response from authorities will help calm things down. When the response is to castigate patriots as far right extremists they are playing a dangerous game.

The Finns, incidentally, are the most extreme example. It seems the further north you go the stronger the sense of restraint. But when it goes it goes. And, as you say, the motivator then is, you destroyed my peaceful life and I will now destroy yours.

In the end, violence (or the threat of violence) is always the deciding factor.

Nothing else ever works, because there are people who will lie and cheat to steal from others. Minorities, Indians, Moslems, Blacks, Jews, Masons, Industrialists will align to protect themselves whilst the majority are happy to have differences of opinion and culture. These minorities study the system and then 'game' the system to achieve control. They do this firstly for safety reasons and then use the control to benefit themselves and their community at the expense of the majority.

They never have and never will abdicate their privilege without the threat or actual violence.

You would have to be an absolute moron to 'Join with other groups to protect yourself', every group is initiated by the rulers and has a dozen spies and agitators in the ranks. You might as well just go off to the gulags and wait for the gates to open. If you want to resist and make a difference, then think how you can shove a spanner in the works and carry out the action with stealth.

I would never suggest or support the killing of senior politicians, mandarins or police, but unless they are removed nothing will change.
