The thing is, patriotism was weaponized very early by globohomo, who recognized how to take advantage of group solidarity. America was isolationist and an autarky at the start of World War 1, overwhelmingly against entering the war (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_entry_into_World_War_I#Public_opinion,_moralism,_and_national_interest ) but globohomo short-circuited the mass's belief in patriotism with propaganda such as this: https://allthatsinteresting.com/world-war-1-propaganda-posters , including with the song “God Bless America". They did the same thing in World War 2, arranging Pearl Harbor by cutting off Japanese access to oil and with FDR having foreknowledge of the attack, even though 90% of Americans were against entry into WW2 even after the invasion of France.
Herman Goering commented on this general concept: “…after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.”
Ultimately I think the core problem is the NPC, that people are way, way too credulous to believing authority figures and the media no matter how many times they get fooled or suckered, each time in a different way. I understand the evolutionary reasons for it, but I think many of modernity's ills can be traced back to this.
There has been a concerted effort to dilute nation states as we all know. And it is working. A country is not a geographical territory, a country is a people. Our cultural enemies know that too.
Everyone on Earth thinks this way except Europeans and those of European ancestry. They have also taught the "educated" such things as patriotism or national loyalty are backward. It is just the rednecks and hillbillies who cling to such sentimental stuff. We are all part of a global village, don't you know?
That is the real benefit of pushing so many through college. It teaches midwits to reject the very things their prosperity is based upon, not the least of which is the impressive cohesion that emerges from a nation of people whose own ancestors built their country, often in trying circumstances.
At this point, I find it very difficult to recommend college for anyone. Maybe a math or engineering degree isn't corrupted yet, but for how long? I would like to see a return of the Renaissance model of the independent scholar and disciples. The individual, not institutions, is the way forward.
The colleges are killing themselves. Fewer men now attend, and I suspect that is just the start. They are destroying their own credibility. So who knows what comes next. Maybe nothing.
Thanks, this was clarifying. I consider myself patriotic in that I love my fellow Americans, but personally I do make a schmittian friend/enemy distinction based on ideology as to what constitutes an American.
Just like the MAN who has to TELL the woman he loves her, or blah-blah
Long ago HL-Mencken ( 100 years ago ) said "Every time I see a man wave a flag I expect to get a bill in the mail", so fucking TRUE, 100% of all Patriotism in USA has always been "For Rent".

Hope you are well, friend. Great piece. We miss you on Twitter and in the GC.
The two introductory paragraphs made me teary eyed. Thank you for saying so eloquently, what so many of us are feeling.

All the institutions have been captured with the Marxist "Long March" and are controlled by our Luciferian overlords.

That's been true for decades. Thus the rise of female dominance in the professional managerial class. And we see how well that works.
It doesn't even work for the ladies. Women dislike working for women, lol.
And a good sprinkling of girlie men too

Patriotism has always been a SCAM in USA
